The Wurlitzer 24 and 24A jukeboxes were produced by the Wurlitzer Company in 1938. They feature an Art Deco-inspired design, characterized by sleek lines, geometric shapes and decorative elements. They include wood veneer panels, polished metals and glass panels for an elegant and sophisticated look. They can hold and play up to 24 78-rpm records, providing a selection of 24 songs.
The Wurlitzer 24 and 24A models feature backlit panels for the first time for Whurlitzer. This is also the first Jukebox designed by Paul Fuller known for influencing design for the golden era of jukeboxes. IT is also the first to feature the 24 select simplex mechanism allowing for 24 selections off of 24 records playing one side of each.
Designed to be used in public places, the Wurlitzer 24 and 24A jukeboxes feature a coin mechanism that accepts nickels or dimes, allowing users to pay for their song selection.
