Bubble Tube Install on a Wurlitzer 1015

Below are some helpful notes to install bubble tubes into an original 1015 Wurlitzer made 1946 and 1947. Newer OMT or One More Time are different. The following are products Victory Glass carries to help with the install including Bubble Tubes. Some of these are available as induvial components as well as the sets.

I had quite a few questions/replies about bubble tube clips/fixings and so thought I’d share what I learned. Hope this is of use to others. All my replacement insulation pads, ceramic heaters and clips & brackets were sourced from Victory Glass.

I found it useful to wrap a little electrical insulation tape around the glass tubes where the P clips are positioned since the glass tubes can be quite slippy and you don’t want to over-tighten the clips. Also the heaters originally had brass shims in them to ensure a snug fit of the glass tubes and allow heat transfer. You will need to remove the shims if the tubes don’t fit.

The straight tubes are held pretty firmly by the heater assemblies at the bottom and the only P clips are at the top of each vertical tube.

The curved bubble tubes are a bit more tricky. At the bottom of the curved tubes P clips are attached and then held below metal Z clips that are attached to the main heater assembly bracket. We believe this was a later modification to prevent the tubes popping out of the heaters when they first start bubbling. Then half way along the longer curved tube is a clear plastic support bracket to keep the tube in position. This is only on the longer curved tube. Finally, the top of the curved tubes are held by P clips attached to flat metal spacers to allow tolerance for positioning. The longer tube uses a long metal strap and the short curved tube uses a short metal strap.

Hope that all helps. It takes a while to fiddle about and get the tube positions correct but it’s worth the time and effort.
