AMI A

The AMI Model A is a classic jukebox that was produced by Automated Musical Instrument Company (AMI) in 1946-1948. It can hold up to 20 78-rpm records, allowing for a total of 40 song selections.

These shipped playing 78 rpm records but a popular modification is to convert to 45 rpm records.  A 45 adapted machine is easily identifiable by the blue adapter rings and larger turntable capstan on the turntable platter.

The Model A features colorful lighting effects that are synchronized with the music, behind large white plastics. It is nicknamed Mother of plastic, celebrating the new material and its use.

Designed to be used in public places, the Model A features a coin mechanism that can be adjusted accepts nickels, dimes, and quarters. When a coin is inserted, the used can select songs they would like to play. The Model A can also be equipped with a remote control that allows the operator to select songs and adjust the volume from a distance.

Overall, the AMI Model A jukebox is a highly popular and innovative model that is known for its large stylish plastics.
