AMI Continental and Lyric

The AMI Continental & Lyric are popular jukebox models that were produced by Automatic Musical Instruments (AMI) in 1961. The Continental is sometimes referred to as the Continental 1 due to version 2 being released the next year.  It features a radar dish like lit title board to display its 200 selections for the 100 records it carries.  The Lyric is a 100 select or 50 record jukebox with similar styling but without the elaborate titleboard.

The Continental and Lyric models both feature colorful blue-green accents and gold trim, colorful grill lights.  The machines also features a visible mechanism that loads and plays the records. These models are equipped with mono or stereo amplifiers, but stereo requires external speakers for the full effect.

Designed to be used in public places, the AMI Continental and Lyric models feature a coin mechanism that accepts nickels, dimes, and quarters. These models also allow the user to equip them with a remote control that allows the user to select songs and adjust the volume from a distance.

Overall, the AMI Continental and Lyric jukeboxes are popular jukebox models that are known for their unique design.  Some of AMI’s most collectible jukeboxes.
