The Wurlitzer 1700 jukebox was a popular iconic jukebox produced by the Wurlitzer Company in 1954. It features a sleek and stylish design with a curved top and a prominent back lit pilasters on the front. The cabinet is made of wood and finished with blond wood grain finish. It can hold and play 104 selections of 52 records at 45 rpm.
The Wurlitzer 1700 incorporates the first year of the new carousel record changer mechanism. The records were positioned in a circle around the record playing mechanism and lifted up to the center for play. Interesting though the title display was first off offered in single strip layout as with previous years. Toward the end of the production they were offered with dual layout title strip. The numbering is also different than the rest of the fifties making this year an unique transition. There was also offered a hi-fi option to add a tweeter to it from the factory.
Designed to be used in public places, the Wurlitzer 1700 jukebox features a coin mechanism that accepts nickels, dimes or quarters, allowing users to pay for their song selection. It has a push-button song selection system. Users press the corresponding button on the front panel to choose their desired song.
