AMI Pre-War

The AMI Pre-War model jukeboxes refer to the jukeboxes produced by Automatic Musical Instruments (AMI) before World War II. AMI produced jukeboxes starting in 1927, pausing because of the war in 1942.  AMI was one of the first to play both sides of the record, when their competitors were only playing one.  Therefore having 10 records would give you 20 selections.

AMIs in this category are hard to find, and many of them are known for their elegant art deco designs.  Notable models are the Streamliner and Top Flight.  Another interesting model is the Singing Towers,  This machine resembled the skyscrapers of the time, but was not a success in the market.

AMI also produced the Automatic Hostess in this time that was a telephone music system, where a turntable room with many records would be played by an operator for many different installations.  Therefore providing hundreds of song selections to many location from one central office in a city center.
